Frequently Asked Questionsin Oklahoma City, OK
At City Paws Emergency Care, we understand that pet emergencies can be stressful. Our goal is to make your experience as smooth and reassuring as possible. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions from pet owners in Oklahoma City and beyond.
If your pet is currently experiencing an emergency, please call us right away at (405) 342-0663 or come directly to our hospital at 912 Market Dr. Oklahoma City, OK 73114.
What types of cases do you treat?
We provide care for both urgent and life-threatening conditions in dogs and cats. Common reasons pets visit us include vomiting, diarrhea, limping, breathing difficulties, toxin ingestion, and injuries.
If you’re unsure whether your pet needs emergency care, give us a call — our team can help guide you.
What is triage, and how does it work?
When you arrive, a veterinary nurse will assess your pet’s condition to determine how urgently they need to be seen. Pets in stable condition may need to wait briefly if another pet’s situation is critical. This ensures that every animal receives care based on their medical needs.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, cash, ScratchPay, and CareCredit. While we do not offer in-house payment plans, many clients use third-party financing options to help manage costs.
Will my regular veterinarian be updated?
Yes — we value collaboration. After your pet’s visit, we send a full medical record to your primary care veterinarian, so they remain informed and can continue your pet’s follow-up care.
Can I visit or call for updates during treatment?
City Paws Emergency Care welcomes families to visit their hospitalized pets whenever possible. Visitation is coordinated by our medical team and depends on several factors, including your pet’s medical stability, current patient volume, staffing levels, and ongoing treatments.
Our top priority is providing uninterrupted, high-quality care to all hospitalized patients. Because of this, visit times and durations may vary day to day and may need to be scheduled, shortened, delayed, or, in some cases, temporarily restricted.
During periods of high patient volume, visitation may not be possible. Our team will always do their best to communicate with you and accommodate visits when it is safe to do so.
What if I’m not sure whether it’s an emergency?
If you’re unsure, call us. Our experienced team can help determine whether your pet should be seen immediately or if the issue can wait until your regular vet is available. When in doubt, it’s always safest to have your pet evaluated.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment is needed. We are a walk-in only emergency and urgent care hospital, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Pets are treated on a triage basis, meaning the most critical cases are seen first.
How much will my visit cost?
Costs vary depending on your pet’s condition and the treatments required. Before beginning any care, we provide a detailed treatment plan and estimate so you can make informed decisions.
We work hard to keep our prices affordable and transparent.
Do you take pet insurance?
Yes! We accept most pet insurance providers. Payment is due at the time of service, and we’re happy to provide itemized invoices to help you file your claim for reimbursement.
What happens if my pet needs to stay overnight?
If your pet requires overnight or intensive monitoring, we will provide overnight care with appropriate pain management and nursing care.
What should I bring when I come in?
Please bring:
- Your pet’s current medications or medical history (if available)
- A leash or secure carrier
- A form of payment
If you have records from your regular veterinarian, bringing those can help us better understand your pet’s medical background.
